Locks and Keys

Written and Published by Peter Arblaster. Elsie Barr has a difficult life. She has a son to raise, an invisible business to run, a husband who has gone to fight in the Great War, and an affair with a married lover to manage. Her business mentor dies and she is left relying on her own resources and skills. Despite her difficulties she occasionally takes time off for her family to take a holiday in Herefordshire, hop-picking, where she finds friendship and uses her abilities to solve new problems. Elsie is a no-nonsense Black Country woman who thrives on difficulties, to become a powerful, substantial woman in her community.
