Tommy gets the Smartwater treatment.

Smartwater war memorial

02 July 2013

Today the Curator of Industry and Transport had the most unusal job of putting smartwater on our war memorial 'Tommy'. Thanks to a scheme run by the War Memorial Trust the Curator has been able to further ensure the war memorial stays  safe. Smartwater is liquid containing a code which can be read under ultraviolet light; so if any part of the memorial were to be stolen it would be traced back to the Museum. Alongside the war memorial other properties and objects have been marked with smartwater to help reduce thefts. You can read more about smart water here.
