Museumís Jubilee Joy

Girl in Jubilee costume

05 June 2011

Red, white and blue is the order of the day at Black Country Living Museum where a traditional street party celebration will mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee on Tuesday 5 June, 2012.

Flag flying and bunting clad streets will create the Museum’s own traditional version of ‘party at the palace’ over the extended bank holiday.  Whilst entertainment ‘fit for a Queen’ ensures Her Majesty’s 60 year reign is celebrated in royal style.

A traditional street party will take place at midday with favourite festive foods making a comeback.  Memories of the Queen’s Silver and Golden Jubilee will come flooding back, as trestle tables, laden with goodies, are reminiscent of times gone by and are set against the backdrop of the Museum’s picturesque 1900s street.

Jane Allcock, Event Coordinator said: “We’ve something to suit all the family.  Street performers Brum and Dudley, always a favourite, will captivate the crowds with circus skills and balloon animal making.  Toe-tapping tunes and traditional musical entertainment will get visitors singing along whilst patriotic face painting is popular with younger visitors.”

All visitors can join in the party atmosphere, however there is an optional pre-purchase ticket to sit down and join in the street party food. Party food and sit down tickets are limited.  Advance booking only at an additional cost of £5.00 on 0121 520 8054.. Food served from 12.00 - 1.30pm.
