Museum to Create Wikipedia Group

character with computer

28 January 2013

The Black Country Living Museum is looking for people to help us write and publish Wikipedia articles about the Museum.

The project will focus on some of the Museum’s key buildings like Gregory’s General Store and Doo’s Chemist. Research material will be provided by the Museum and volunteers will be encouraged to take their own pictures of the buildings on the Museum site.

On Friday 8 February come along for a morning or afternoon session or stay for both. The morning session is 10.00am until 12.30pm and the afternoon session is 1.00pm until 4.30pm. After the initial meeting the group will then meet the first Friday of every month.

Volunteers will need to have their own laptops and be computer literate. Guidance on entering and editing articles on Wikipedia can be provided although some experience using Wikipedia would be useful. Refreshments will be provided.

Please call Helen Taylor, Assistant Curator (Collections Access) on 0121 521 5603 or email to register your interest.
