Can you help BCLM?

We need your help now more than ever

24 March 2020

We’re sorry to ask at such a difficult time, but we need your help now more than ever.

The Museum is closed temporarily to protect public health and stem the spread of the coronavirus.  As an independent charity with over ninety percent of our income coming from visitors, this closure will have a serious  impact.

How can I help?

There are two ways, you can either buy a ticket, or make a donation.

1.  Purchase a ticket now, and visit us later

If you were planning on visiting us in the coming weeks and months and, if you’re able, please consider buying an UnChained Pass now.

Your UnChained Pass will be valid for 12 months from the first day you visit and will help us to survive during this unprecedented and challenging time.

2.  Donate  at our JustGiving page

If you aren’t able to purchase a ticket, please consider donating to our JustGiving page. No matter how small, anything you can spare will make a difference.

When it is safe to do so, we want nothing more than to be able to re-open our doors and welcome our visitors back.  Your support now means we can continue to play our role in the Black Country’s future.  Thank you.

Why do you need our support?

We very gratefully receive some support from external funders, but the vast majority of our income (more than 90%) comes from our visitors. This is something we’re incredibly proud of, but it also means that we’re vulnerable in a crisis such as this.

How does buying a ticket/donating help?

When you buy a ticket  you’ll be doing so much more than buying a ticket to visit us. You’ll be providing us with the financial lifeline we desperately need to give the Museum a chance to survive during these unprecedented and challenging times.

We understand that buying a ticket won’t be something that everyone feels they can do.  Therefore, we’ve created a JustGiving page where people can make a donation, if they can. No matter how small, every single penny counts and will go directly towards helping us to stay open for the future.

But, don’t you have lots of money because of your new Forging Ahead development?

We have won funding to deliver Forging Ahead, our major historic development.  However, these funds are secured on the basis of delivering on a capital project and currently cannot be used to fund the day-to-day running of the Museum.  We’re talking to funders about the support they can give us and how we may be able to re-purpose some of our funding agreements given these exceptional circumstances.  However, our urgent need is to continue to operate the Museum, which is why need to ask for public support at this time.

How and when will I be able to use the ticket?

You’ll have 12 months from our first date of re-opening to activate your ticket, and every single ticket will be valid for 12 months of unlimited daytime visits starting from the date of your first visit.

When I visit, will the Museum have changed in any way?

We are very much in unchartered territory, but we will do everything in our power to keep as much of the Museum open to our visitors as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
