BCLM’s narrow boat, Kildare is the latest item in our Designated collection to scoop up an award.

Last weekend at the Historic Narrow Boat Club’s Annual General Meeting, Kildare was presented with the Hemelryk award which recognises distinctive progress in the restoration of a historic narrowboat.

Phil Prettyman, the Club’s Chairman presented the trophy to BCLM’s Curator of Industry and Transport , Irene De Boo and Chairman of the Friends of President, Nick Haynes. They collected the award on behalf of the specialists, staff and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to preserve evidence of traditional construction techniques – congratulations go to all those involved in the project.

Visitors can now see Kildare docked in the Museum’s canal arm.
