70 years on tribute to Dolly Allen

Black Country Night

04 September 2014

Our Black Country Night on Saturday 13 September will be opened by the legendary queen of Black Country comedy, Dolly Allen, as she is brought back to life in a tribute act.

The first time Dolly performed a comedy routine was in 1944 when she entertained fellow Hackett Brothers workers at a Christmas do.

Now, 70 years later, local Gornal comedian, Emma Rollason will kick off the evening of comedy as she performs a tribute to Dolly Allen.

Emma has a strong Black Country accent and takes on the comedic persona of Dolly, known for her distinctive specs, handbag and feather-topped hat.

Join us for a night of music & comedy at our Black Country Night

Celebrating all things Black Country!

The Museum will be brought to life with a whole host of entertainment from across the Black Country, including music by local internet sensation, The Empty Can. Comedians will tickle you with laughter on stage in the Worker’s Institute, while musicians delight on our stage in Folkes’ Park.

We’ll be celebrating ‘ow we spake’ as well as tantalising your taste buds with plenty of local grub and local ale.
