Fundraising for BCLM: Forging Ahead is already well underway.

We need your support for BCLM: Forging Ahead; a transformational development project which will see us create a major new Historic Town and Industrial Area set in the 1940-60s, dedicated learning facilities and a contemporary Visitor Centre.

So far we’ve secured investment from Heritage Lottery Fund (subject to a successful Round Two application), Arts Council England, Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership and we’re investing our own money too.  We’re also working hard on a number of funding bids to trusts, foundations and other grant givers who we’ll hear from throughout 2019.

So you might be thinking “How can I help?” We need your help to raise £150,000 to reach our fundraising target and enable this exciting project to take place.

Your support will help us to:

  • Create dedicated learning facilities for 90,000 school children to explore our unique heritage
  • Save stories, items and buildings for visitors to enjoy in the future
  • Provide activities and opportunities for members of our local community, young and not-so-young, to learn new skills, volunteer, meet people and of course, have fun.

Are you looking to donate an object?

We’re into our 40th year as a Museum and have over 80,000 items in our collection ranging from the 1850s to the 1940s.

/media/expandable_text/library/donationexpbox.jpgAs we embark on our major development project   BCLM: Forging Ahead, we’re now looking to collect items up to the 1960s. We’re particularly interested in items which:

  • Have a strong connection with the Black Country
  • Are underrepresented in other local museums
  • Fill a gap in our existing collections

If you think you have an item dating from the 1940s-60s that might be suitable to our new development, first of all, please give this document a read and, if you feel it meets the criteria, get in touch to arrange an appointment with us – details below.

To arrange an appointment please telephone our Collections Team on 0121 557 9643 or email   collections@bclm.com
