Willow Frame Basket: 2 day course - Cancelled

27 June - 28 June 2020

We’ve reluctantly decided to cancel this event as a result of the ongoing public health situation due to coronavirus (Covid-19).

We’re sorry that we’ve had to take this decision and for any disappointment this may cause. Where possible, our priority is to postpone and re-schedule events. However, on this occasion, we’ve been unable to find an alternative date.

Learn about the techniques and traditions of willow weaving and create your own unique willow frame basket to take home at the end of the day.

You will be guided step by step through each stage of the basket making process to create your basket. You will learn how to prepare willow before making a basket and enough technique to make further baskets at home.

This 2-day course is suitable for beginners.

Course Tutor: Rachel Evans

Rachel has been making baskets for over 20 years, starting as a hobby, then setting up her business, Wheatcroftwillow in 2008. She was awarded a training grant from the Basketmakers Association to begin an apprenticeship with Adrian Charlton of Norfolk and has recently been awarded another training grant to learn how to make the cyntell, a welsh frame basket. She has been teaching basketmaking to beginners and intermediates for 6 years and enjoys sharing her skills and helping others to enjoy her craft. Find out more about her on her   website.
