Bank Holiday Weekend

May Day Bank Holiday Weekender

04 May - 06 May 2019

Summer is a'coming in! Join us for our May Day celebrations this Bank Holiday Monday.

The whole family can enjoy a fun-packed day. Welcome in May with traditional May Day themed activities, make your own  canal art inspired crafts, or May Crown and join the afternoon horse-drawn procession.

Traditional dancers will be weaving their May Day magic around the maypole in St James School.  Join in and learn more about the origins of these ancient celebrations.

A great day out for all the family!

You can also discover the delights of playtime in the last century,  banish boredom with traditional  street games including hopscotch and skipping.  Take up the challenge to see how long you can keep the hoop rolling in the hoop and stick game and test your skill with a cup and ball and the whip and top.

Not forgetting our usual's - you can also enjoy a trip  'Into the Thick', experiencing life in a 1850s coal mine, attend a Victorian school lesson and try our famous traditionally cooked Fish & Chips.

Don’t forget that all full priced day tickets are valid for an UnChained Annual Pass, giving you 12 months’ unlimited daytime visits for free!
