Introduction to Leatherwork - Sold Out

28 September - 28 September 2019

This workshop has sold out

A great introduction to leather craft, come and make a leather coin purse and simple bi-fold wallet using vegetable tanned leather.

You will be shown how to use specialist tools safely and will sew your leather goods by hand.   You will experiment with making holes and stamping letters. Working from a pre-made template you will cut your purse and wallet out using a craft knife, assemble then sew them by hand using a lacing pony. To finish you will apply a coloured edge of your choice.

Learn how to use leather making tools safely and to hand sew leather.

About the course tutor

Deborette Clarke is a fun loving creative who has many years’ experience as an educator, designer and maker. Having worked with leather whilst studying at college and really admiring the versatility of the material, it was a natural choice of material to work with. ‘I wanted to experiment with leather and a pre-owned leather sewing machine’. B18 Leather was born, shapes are simple and colour is key.  Some pieces are hand painted using a variety of methods. The skin or hide is treated as a blank ‘canvas’ for the experimentation.
