‘Leg it’ to the Black Country and take part in one of the most atmospheric inland waterway events of the year!

Bringing together some of the region’s most extraordinary vessels the Museum will rekindle a way of life that has long since vanished.

Navigate your way through colourfully decorated working boats and discover life aboard a traditional narrowboat as it would have been in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Visit the Lace Guild's market stall to see patterned lace made using bobbins or a needle, crochet hook, knitting needles or a tatting shuttle.

See the Guild of Waterway Artists, a group of artists; practicing in traditional and contemporary painting which bring to the fore everything related to the canals and rivers. All media are represented in the Guild from pastel, watercolour, oils and acrylics to photography and modern media.

Additional Activities:

Book onto one of our Canal Art Family Workshops and Have a go at traditional skills of canal art, learn how to paint your very own design to take home for just £3pp (pre-book only).

Study Day -  Boat People of the Black Country, Sat 23 Sep (pre-book only). Join local historians for a look back at the people who worked the 'cut', take a guided tour of our boat dock and enjoy a fish & chip lunch.
