Forge Experience Day - Cancelled

16 May 2020

We’ve reluctantly decided to cancel this event as a result of the ongoing public health situation due to coronavirus (Covid-19).

We’re sorry that we’ve had to take this decision and for any disappointment this may cause. Where possible, our priority is to postpone and re-schedule events. However, on this occasion, we’ve been unable to find an alternative date.

A "hands on" experience of Blacksmithing under the experienced guidance of our Locksmith Demonstrator.

Set in the atmospheric Edwardian house and lockmaking workshops of the Hodson family. Experience lockmaking and learn how to forge a point, a flat and a bend into a piece of metal, some of the key elements to forging a padlock. Our Locksmith will introduce you to the forge, show you the basic forging tools and how to use them.

Enjoy some light refreshments as we serve up lunch and, as a souvenir of your experience, you will be able to take home a bar from a bar padlock and nails.

Course Tutor: Blacksmith & Lockmaker, Andy Middlebrook

Please note this event is not at Black Country Living Museum, and takes place at: The Locksmith's House, 54 New Road, Willenhall, WV13 2DA

Cancelled Booking Details

If you’ve bought a ticket for this event you have two options. You can:

1. Support us by donating the cost of your ticket if you can’t make the new date

If you can’t make the new date, but you’re able to donate the cost of your ticket please consider supporting us in this way. We are more than 90% reliant on visitor income and anything you can do to support us during this difficult time would be very much appreciated. Please email our Sales & Ticketing team (salesandticketing@bclm.com) to let them know you would like to donate in this way.

2. Or, request a refund

If you’re unable to attend on the new date you can, of course, obtain a refund on your ticket. Please email our Sales & Ticketing team (salesandticketing@bclm.com) who will be able to process this for you. Please bear in mind that we may not able to meet our usual response times during this period, but we will get back to you.  Please note: you have up to two calendar months before the new date of the event in which to request a refund (i.e. by Sat 5 Jul for Finding the Fifties and by Mon 10 Aug for Red by Night).  We will be unable to process requests for refunds after these dates.

Further details

The Museum is currently closed until at least Friday 1 May.  Our re-opening date and programme for daytime admissions will be guided by Government advice and our priority remains to protect public health. Therefore, we may need to announce further changes in the light of updated Government advice as and when it is published. We’ll endeavour to keep you informed and to announce any changes in good time. Please check our website and social media for updates.

We’re grateful for your patience and bearing with us during these difficult and challenging times. We want to be there for you as soon as we’re able to re-open and welcome you back into 300 years of Black Country history.

Until then, stay safe and keep out the ‘oss road!
