Collection theme: Transport
The Museum holds the largest collection of road vehicles of Black Country manufacture in the country including trolley buses, motor cars and fifty motor cycles of pre-1939 vintage. Local companies represented in the collections include Sunbeam, Clyno, AJS, Bean, Rockson and Wolf.
The Museum preserves the original canal arm which connected the limekilns to the Black Country canal network. There is a 1930s boat dock on site, equipped with examples of boat builders’ tools. The Museum also has an important collection of locally made and used canal boats, including the unique wharf boats of Wolverhampton and several examples of day boats. More information about some of this boat collection can be found on the Register of National Historic Ships.
