Collection theme: Metal Working Industry
The Museum has comprehensive collections covering the range of metal working industries of the Black Country. Structures relocated to the site include an anchor forge from Cradley Heath, a rolling mill from Oldbury, the contents of an oliver shop from Lench’s of Blackheath, a nailshop from Halesowen, a backyard chainshop from Cradley Heath, an animal trap works from Wednesfield and a brass foundry from Walsall.
The Museum also holds collections of locally manufactured cast iron objects, edge tools and enamelled goods and equipment such foundry patterns, pattern makers’ tools and panel beating equipment. A particular highlight is the Kenrick Collection. This consists of approximately 1070 items of hardware produced by the West Bromwich firm and its competitors, as well as over 3400 catalogues and archive items.
