Maped Helix and BCLM are getting Britain Writing

With National Stationery Week all set to celebrate pens, pencils and paper-based products across the UK, hundreds of local school children will be doing likewise, courtesy of a Kingswinford based business and the Black Country Living Museum.

As one of the sponsors of National Stationery Week, Maped Helix is giving all schools visiting the popular attraction during the commemorative week – from April 27 to May 3 - a generous classroom bundle of stationery equipment to promote the art of handwriting amongst youngsters.

A Victorious Saturday at the Black Country Living Museum

Join costumed re-enactors for speeches, food and fun at Black CountryLivingMuseum on Saturday 9th May as part of nationwide VE Day Celebrations. Marking the end of 70 years since WWII, the Museum will celebrate as the whole of Europe once did in May 1945 – with laughter, dancing and traditional street celebrations.

BCLM Launches ‘Truly Local’ Ale

Black Country Living Museum has launched its very own ale, named after its 239-year old pub The Bottle & Glass Inn (4.3% ABV).The ale, which is brewed and bottled in the Black Country, will see all proceeds go back to the Museum, which preserves 300 years of Black Country history across its 26-acre site.

Award-Winning £62k Restoration Brings Rare Boat Back to Life

Birchills, an extremely rare Joey, or ‘day boat’, has been repaired and re-docked at the Black Country Living Museum following an appeal which raised £62,000 worth of charitable donations. One of the most important and vulnerable objects in the Museum’s collection, Birchills is considered one of the last surviving boats of its type.
