Step inside the Industrial Revolution at Black Country Living Museum

As part of the European annual Museums at Night festival, the Museum will recreate the distinctive glow described by Burritt as costumed demonstrators and skilled craftsmen bring the 26 acre site to life. Witness a full scale replica of the world’s very first successful steam engine, the Newcomen, fire up. Hear the sound of hammers clang and see sparks fly as re-enactors put on live demonstrations, using centuries-old techniques to forge chains, nails and brass.

ERA Announces Support for Locksmith’s House in Willenhall

Black Country Living Museum’s Willenhall-based Locksmith’s House has recently announced support from local home security company ERA.

Built in the late 19th century, the Locksmith’s House has been open to the public since the 1984, celebrating the efforts of the small family-run lock making businesses which thrived in the area. The house is recreated with the actual belongings and furniture of the Hodson family of lock makers, the last inhabitants of 54 New Road, Willenhall. The working class family home is accompanied in the back yard by a two-storey workshop building. A working forge, machinery and costumed re-enactors all add to the atmosphere. On Friday 27th March the Black CountryLivingMuseum will be opening a brand new ‘Discover the Black Country’ exhibition in its entrance. The exhibition features a series of image panels depicting life in the Black Country and culminates in a five minute film in the newly-installed ‘cinema pod’.

Black Country Living Museum Showcases Local Attractions at Exhibition

On Saturday 21 February Black Country Living Museum will play host to the 2015 Tourism & Attractions show, a regional travel trade show aimed at giving group travel organisers fresh and exciting ideas for days out and short breaks. The Museum will act as a comprehensive showcase for tourism and events in the region, with exhibitors including the West Midland Safari Park, the Dudley Canal Trust, BBC Birmingham and many more.
