On 10 & 11 October 2014 Black CountryLivingMuseum will be holding its first ever ‘It’s a Gas!’ conference exploring the heritage of the manufactured gas industry in Britain and its legacy in the 21st century. Expect fascinating lectures, explosive demonstrations and an evening in the 19th century as you explore the Museum’s canal side village brought to life by gaslight.

Itís all Drama and Monkey Business at Black Country Living Museum

Midlands viewers may be feline like they have déjà vu when they watch BBC’s new drama Our Zoo this Wednesday (6 Sep). The six-episode series, written by award-winning playwright Matt Charman, features many scenes from the Black CountryLivingMuseum in Dudley and tells the true story of Matt Charman, the man who created Chester Zoo in the 1930s.

Heritage Open Day

Unlock Black Country Secrets at Open Day

The Locksmith’s House in Willenhall is giving visitors the opportunity to unlock its fascinating history for free on Sat 13 Sep as part of the national Heritage Open Day campaign for English Heritage.

Part of the Black Country Living Museum, it is the only surviving lock-maker’s house and workshop in a town which was once the UK’s lock-making capital. Visitors will be able to take house tours (bookable on the day), see lock making demonstrations, costumed demonstrators and take part in various family activities throughout the day.
