Bus Pull Challenge Raises Money for Museum

Black Country Living Museum is teaming up with local American Football Club Sandwell Steelers for a Black Country Challenge day at the Museum on August Bank Holiday Monday. The day will see teams from Sandwell Steelers compete against each other in a series of challenges, culminating in a vintage bus pull, to raise funds for both organisations.

Summer Sleuthing is in the Spotlight at Museum

Summer sunshine is scheduled to shine down on the 1900s streets at Black Country Living Museum where an action-packed programme of activities is on the menu from Saturday 27 July to Sunday 1 September 2013.

Black Country voices are in fine fettle as Fizzog Theatre Company, back by popular demand, present their ‘living soap opera’ based on a day in the life of two typical Black Country Families – the Froggatts and Cotterills.   Weaving its way around the canalside village the story envelopes the Museum's visitors, costumed characters, shops, houses and workplaces as they all become a backdrop to the action.

Motoring Festival Wheels into its 11th Year

Black Country Living Museum’s Festival of Black Country Vehicles wheels into its 11th year on Sunday 28th July, 2013 and this year’s line up promises to be even bigger and better than ever.  Music and motors are on the menu as vintage vehicles mingle with classic jazz at the Museum’s annual gathering of cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles and bicycles.

 Visit Black Country Living Museum anytime soon and you may find yourself in a poem.  The Museum, which held a Festival of Poetry last year to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Newcomen Engine, has just announced Dave Reeves as Poet-in-Residence.  The Black Country Bard, who is a combination of poet, performer and historian, will find inspiration amongst the Museum’s collections and the region’s industrial history.
