Museum celebrates the region in 2014

Black Country

18 June 2014

2014 sees two new events at BCLM dedicated to celebrating the Black Country.

As a warm up to its first ever Black Country Night on Saturday 13 September, and to mark Black Country Day, the Dudley Museum is spending a weekend flying the flag for the Black Country.

On 12 & 13 July visitors will be able to enjoy musical performances and live demonstrations whilst embarking on a trail of discovery about the industrial heritage of the Black Country.  As well as being able to tuck into BCLM’s famous traditionally-cooked fish & chips, there’ll also be a chance to sample some Black Country Tapas before trying some local real ales.

Then, on Saturday 13 September, the Museum will come alive at night with a whole host of entertainment from across the Black Country, including music by local internet sensation, The Empty Can. Comedians will tickle visitors with laughter on stage in the Workers’ Institute, while musicians delight on stage in Folkes’ Park. There’ll be celebrations of ‘ow we spake’ as well as plenty of local grub and local ale on offer to tantalise taste buds.

Plus, visitors will be able to see the Newcomen Engine in Steam during both events.
