I-SPY BCLM

BCLM has worked with Michelin Travel Publications to produce its very own I-SPY book so that once again, the popular family fun books are enjoyed by a new generation of children.

The I-SPY series of  books date back to the 1950s when they were published as 'Spotters guides' for British Children. Charles Warrell, a former head master, created the   I-SPY books before he retired in 1956.

Each book covered a subject such as I-SPY Cars, I-SPY on a Train Journey, I-SPY on the Beach.  As children 'spied' the items within the books such as an oak tree, coal and bucket & spade, they would tick them off in their I-SPY book and score points. Once they had completed the book, it could be sent to the publishers for order of merit.

Michelin Travel Publications acquired and published the I-SPY books throughout the 1990s and ceased publication in 2002. By popular demand, they relaunched the series again in 2009, with the new style faithful to the original concept.

You can join in with the traditional I-SPY fun - Buy your BCLM I-SPY book from our online shop before you visit and use it to find your way around BCLM's buildings and exhibits. Don't forget to ask our characters for help with answering the questions in your book - remember; you score I-Spy points for every question you answer -  how many can you score?
