Every region is unique, and this year's Society for Folk Life Studies annual conference will be held here at BCLM to discover the Black Country's impact on the world.

The Society for Folk LifeStudies are inviting people from all over the country to come and explore the Black Country's heritage, landscape and identity. Through a range of papers and two excursions the conference will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the industry and identity of this part of England. It will also consider the challenges of building conservation on heritage sites and how two key elements of early industrialisation -canals and steam power- now feature strongly as leisure and heritage attractions.

The four day conference will include a wide range of speakers, excursions of local heritage buildings, an exploration of Black Country Living Museum with live industrial demonstrations, local entertainment and networking dinners. Whether it's for one day or all four, this is a conference that will provide an excellent opportunity to learn about the industry and identity of this part of the Black Country.
