Key Stage 4 Design & Technology

Students will develop their knowledge and understanding of the design process through an interactive product analysis session.

This day visit will cover Product Analysis, using the Museum collections to gain an understanding of the development of products through time and to be able to place them in their true historical context.

 

Objectives:

  • To learn about the history of manufacturing and design, and how processes and products from the past have influenced the present
  • To gain knowledge and understanding of how to analyse products, evaluating them according to their aesthetics, cost, customer, environmental impact, size, safety, function and choice of materials (ACCESS FM)
  • To understand how new materials and new technology have shaped modern design
