Kenrick became one of the leading manufacturers of domestic hardware in the UK. Its possible that this piece was used to test the effectiveness of an enamel coating on kettle interiors. The original label reads, ""sample of 'silicate' enamel upon kettle turned inside and spout sand blasted. Nov 1948""
