R Sykes Britannic Anchor, model

Miniature brass anchor with inscription on shank R. SYKES & SON CRADLEY HEATH/ THE 'BRITANNIC'.These model anchors are thought to be commercial traveller's samples. The anchor is a 'stockless type' designed for easy stowage in the hawser. The joint is a 'ball and socket' type, similar to the one used on the Baldt pattern anchor. The famous White Star liner Britannic was built 1914.
