03 November 2018

Experience life in our traditional sweet shop; known locally as the ‘suck shop’.

Meet your host with a welcoming freshly brewed cuppa, put on your vintage  style clothes, tie up your apron and get ready to enjoy some traditional sweet making with our specialist demonstrators.

Firstly, you will discover the history of our T.Cook's sweet shop and the role it played within the community, followed by getting  hands-on with the sticky and sweet stuff - check the copper is warm and you’ll soon be on your way to making both traditional Kali and boiled sweets.

You will learn how to create bags of tasty sweetness to take home and experience demonstrating your new skills to Museum visitors as they drop into the shop to admire your sweet creations.

It’s thirsty work so you’ll look forward to the billycans coming round with the tea and a well-earned famous fish and chip lunch.
