06 October - 07 October 2018

Experience the harvest season in wartime Britain as we transform home-grown fruit and vegetables into thrifty dishes.

Uncover the fascinating history of wartime rationing and head back in time into the homes and shops of Black Country folk as costumed demonstrators tell you all about the tactics once used to keep Britain and the Black Country fed, from pig clubs to preserve making.

Stock up on some tasty preserves for your larder and plant a seed to take home and watch grow.

On Sun 7 Oct: Join Volunteers - The Friends of the Museum, as they bring the 1837 Darby Hand Chapel to life when they re-enact a traditional Harvest Festival Service. Please note there is a limited amount of seating and places will need to be pre-booked - find out more about the Harvest Festival Service

Not forgetting our usuals - you can also enjoy a trip 'Into the Thick', experiencing life in a 1850s coal mine, attend a Victorian school lesson, watch 1930s films in our Limelight cinema, discover  the delights of playtime in the last century, banish boredom with traditional street games and try our famous traditionally cooked Fish & Chips.

Don’t forget that all full priced day tickets are valid for an UnChained Annual Pass, giving you 12 months’ unlimited daytime visits for free!
