Learn about the traditional craft of rag-rug making. During the workshop Jenni will demonstrate the traditional techniques of hooking and podging strips of fabric through hessian backing to make rugs, wall hangings and seat mats.

/media/events/library/hlf_logo_job_sites-custom.pngAt the end of the day you will take home your own unique shaggy seat mat and a wealth of ideas for making more rag rug creations at home.

About the course tutor: Jenni Stuart-Anderson

Jenni learned traditional rag rug techniques from a Herefordshire blacksmith’s daughter, who made rugs for over 50 years. Jenni enjoys sharing the craft with people across the country and it is popular again not only as ‘upcycling’ but as a therapeutic, creative activity with roots deep in British culture. Jenni has written Rag Rug Making (due for 6th reprint in 2017) and More Rag Rugs & Recycled Textile Projects. She likes treading lightly on the planet  and has brought granny’s thrift craft into the 21st century.
