Forging Ahead

BCLM: Forging Ahead  is phase one of our 40 year master plan to create a world class heritage attraction in the heart of the Black Country. This exciting £21.7m project will use real things, real people and real stories to engage and inspire visitors, of all ages, to learn about the Black Country’s heritage, its impact on the world and its relevance today.

Through the creation of a new major historic 1940s-1960s development, new learning spaces and improved visitor facilities, we will tell the story of the Black Country up to the closure of the Baggeridge Coal Mine in 1968 which brought about the end of a unique era for the Black Country.

Over the coming months, we need your help to build up a picture of post-war Black Country life. Check our website regularly or follow our hashtag #myblackcountrystory to keep up to date with our public call-outs for memories and objects.

If you or anyone you know has any memories relating to our call-outs please get in touch via 0121 557 9643, collections@bclm.com or fill out our online form.
